Redbull Thre3Style Recap

On September 21, 2013, I earned a spot to compete in the Redbull Thre3style competition.

If you’re unaware of what it is, Thre3style is a DJ competition held in about 21 countries. In Canada, 8 regional qualifiers take place (I competed in the Ottawa qualifier). From there, the winner moves on to Nationals, and the World Finals after that. Each DJ is given 15 minutes to play three different genres of music in front of a live crowd, and is judged on:

1. How original and technical your set is.

2. Your stage presence.

3. The crowd’s response.

This year’s World Finals will be taking place in Toronto, from the 5th-9th of November. I applaud Redbull Canada for all the work they are putting in, especially in terms of marketing the event. Check this out:

Really cool. It even went as far as me doing a live interview with CTV to discuss and promote the event. It was a great experience, especially as it was my first time on TV. Check out the interview here:

The competition took place at Ritual Night Club, and had a great vibe. DJs/Judges Four Color Zack & Hedspin opened up the floor with some great music (If you don’t know who these guys are, get familiar!). I was very grateful to have a lot of friends/supporters in the crowd. I was overwhelmed to be honest, especially with the sign ‘K’ ‘L’ ‘J’ being thrown up.
